The Messiah not only brought hope, but also condemnation

The day of the Lord in Joel is stated as being a reference to the day of Pentecost and following period of time: the New Covenant
This time period to come before a day of the Lord.

I Thessalonians 5:1-11
The day of the Lord being referred to here is final judgment at the end of the world
The day of the Lord should bring us comfort, if we have been living as we should

Again, we see referenced the final day of the Lord: judgment at Christ’s return
Because of this, we should be living in a way that is upright and steadfast
